Default Removing theremostate?

Cooling setup:

3 inch aluminium radiator
knock off Forged racing cooling slim fan

went out to for a light tune yesterday and my hondata temp gauge says 195 and doesnt get any lower..after half an hour it got stuck on 200...after 2 pull's to check my AFR it hit 220.

it gets higher but doest not get any lower unless i stop the car and wait for it to cool down. 2 years never had heating issues

today same thing happend normal driving ecu gauge says 200..if i boost it temp rises 215-220.

what could have gone bad? i did flush my radiator same.

some guys told me run your car without a thermostate would me much better..what do you guys think?

First off do a leak down test. It will let you know if you have hurt the headgasket.

the fact that it just started doing it indicates an issue with the new head gasket, was the head checked for warping? what about the block? replacing a head gasket isn't as simple as slapping one in. what were the indications to replace the original one? did you see any actual coolant leakage path on the old one? you could have a crack in the head, etc, which may have made you replace the original gasket. don't run the car without a thermostat, the engine has to be at a certain temp for everything to work correctly.

i did an overhaul for my shortblock some time ago so i slammed in a new headgasket but did not drive it as much due to work.

head is fine. block is new, i did open my friends civic just to feel the stock fan and it did push way better than my fan.. i might put the stock one back on and check. i really hope its not the head gasket.

Take off your radiator cap. Start the car ( let it warm up). And check for bubbles in the coolant.

Sounds like air in your system. Take the cap off. Start the car cold and pour in radiator till its at the top. You should see bubbles appearing.. Let the car warm up then when you see the bubbles clear go ahead and quickly cap it. Be careful.. I just did my radiator the other day this way and its perfect.

when was the last time you changed water pump?

i would get a lower temp thermostat, turn down the temp for the fan, and get a higher CFM fan like spal or something

you are INCORRECT sir.

Cometic is garbage and not the same as OEM.

If this is a race car, just run it with no Tstat but if there are other issues...this won't fix the problem. I don't run one.

I will change to stock fan today as no bubbles in the system.

Haven't changed the water pump its still stock. But I will take a look at it.

If temp didn't settle..ill thermostate-less the car lol

Cosmetic gaskets are junk! I blew two of them on light use before I switched in an OEM version...never had problems again .

I bought commetic as everyone said your pushing to much on your engine. So I wanted to be safer.

No I'm not pushing coolant into the overflow. Let the car idle for 15 mins no bubbles just water pours out slowy. Ill try to check the thermostate if its working properly tomorrow.
