Default Reccomend a Good Oil Cooler for Turbo

I want to get one when I get a turbo. I hear they really help the oil temp a lot and that means alot when you have a turbo.

Anyway, does anybdoy have any expericence with some. If so, which one? I'm thinking about get the Greddy Oil Cooler kit, it's seems to be pretty nice.

Suggestions?

Before you hook an oilcooler up, you should first measure with an gauge how high the oil temp realy is. It is not good to have a too cold oil.

Get a coolder water thermostat for 160 Degs. Than look at your oil temp. It should be about the same. When it is 190+ degrees, I would install a oilcooler (have heard Greddy is a good one) with a thermostat to allow the oil a quick warm up.

I just heard that it is better safe than sorry that's why I was considering getting a oil cooler. Understandably that it wouldn't be so good to run cool oil but, I have never heard or that problem before with a turbo, always the too hot problem. I own a 99 Civic Si, does that help you. Cuase... I mean... hell, I dunno

Thanks for the help

Anymore suggestions are welcome

I'll look into making one yourself too. Perma-cool makes good and cheap coolers, you can find them in Summit and Jegs. Never buy B&M coolers. I'll suggest using a thermostate if it's below freezing in winter!

why no B&M? I have a friend that has been using one for 16 months with no problems at all. All of them are about the same with the only major differences being in core size. Greddy seems to be the best, but also the most expensive ~$600

The thing I dont like about the B&M is you have to relocate the oil filter. It wont cause any problems, I just dont like it there. What you need it the sandwitch adapter that fits inbetween the block and oil filter. Then you need a oil cooler core, stainless steel lines, and Earls fittings. Can be done for a little over a $100.

Man, it sounds so complecated, I have no idea where to start or what to do.. So far.... I'm leaning towards the Greddy kit. Anything wrong with the Greddy kit's???

The greddy oil cooler is the best, I have seen. It comes with stainless steel lines and a nice cooler, IMO it is a great setup. I would also recommend checking the oil temp before you install the oil cooler. You dont want to oil to be too cold! Hope this helped.
