How to tell if I need a resistor box or not with RC 550s?

Exaclty what I'm wanting to know. I got them for FREE with no info on them!!!! They say like as9 550 or something on them!

 

Measure the resistance across the two pins

 

If it's really low then I need a resistor box?

 

below 12 ohms you will need one. It'll either be 2-5 ohms, or 12-16 ohms.
