quick question on compression, turbo d16
Sup guys
Im doing my first build over the winter (d16y8 shooting for 300whp) and need a little clarification. Im planning on running 75.5 vitaras, with either some eagle rods or custom length d16 rods (apparently eagles with vitaras dont sit flush with the deck). Now, obviously you would like to lower compression for the turbo, but with the eagle vitara setup, ive readguys are around ~7.5.1 comp., as opposed to ~8.5.1 people are running with the custom rods. Theoretically, if i run the eagle/vitaras, doesnt that mean id make more power safer because id be able to crank the psi higher because i started with lower compression? The car will be my dd which is why im concerned. Just a little confused here on my first build...I will be running a. 57 turbo. Thanks for the help.

Re: quick question on compression, turbo d16
Well, theres the kicker...around where I live (western mass), ive yet to find a reputable honda tuner...the only two shops within 40 miles specialize in american cars, bragging about their extensive knowledge of mustangs, ect. I dont know if that matters, but i wouldve preferred someone who has tuned civics over anyone else. Hence, this thread!

Re: quick question on compression, turbo d16
go with a custom rod with the vitaras, out of boost driving won't be too thrilling at 7.5:1. furthermore you'll have to add a few pounds to make up the loss of power that you could see at 8.5:1.
you can safely produce 300whp on a d16 at 8.5-9.5 on a d16 is ultimately what i'm getting at.

Lowering the compression means you can run more boost with the same fuel, it doesn't necessarily mean you'll make more power since the static compression ratio is a point lower. You would be much better off with less boost and higher static compression. Your off-boost response will be much better as well
