Eagle rods d16y8 feels slugglish low rpm
I did a vitara low compression set up with acl bearings and eagle rods and all the clearances were fine. It drives perfect anything under about 3,500rpm but anything under that it seems sluggish like it doesn't wanna move smoothly. I thought maybe because theeavle rods r heavyer? It drives smooth flooring it and all high rpm just daily driving low rpm it's kinda laggly

i think you answered your own question. low compression pistons, heavier rods. If it is that bad thanmaybe your timing is off.

Is this setup tuned?? The lower compression will effect the lower rpm drivability and WILL feel sluggish. The lower the compression, the less response off-boost.

Re: Eagle rods d16y8 feels slugglish low rpm
it's bone stock from the outside. I'm going in for smog this week. Stock ecu everything. Everyone was top dead center and I hear no valves hitting or valve lash. It just feels like you have 100hp than for half a second it goes to like 90hp than back to 100hp. Just trying to explain what I mean. When I give it gas and it's over 3500rpm it's smooth all to redline. Too smooth actually compared to my old 155,000mile motor. This is overbored and all brand new

Re: Eagle rods d16y8 feels slugglish low rpm
I'm gonna say its your mechanical timing. When i did a mini-me on my d16y7, I thought I had everything aligned properly too. But when i took it for a ride it was terrible under 3k, no matter how fast i tried to accelerate, it was the same way your describing your problem. And it was normal over 3k. So i put my pistons at TDC, and my cam gear was off one tooth. So that may be ur problem.

Yeah, I have the same exact setup in my Y8 and it's not sluggish at all. It's going to be your timing dude. Check that out and then get back to us....

yea its not tuned. thats why my guess was the low compression and to much of fuel is making it feel like that. its annoying as hell but the car runs great other than that...

Re: Eagle rods d16y8 feels slugglish low rpm
brand new motor. breaking it in hard because thats what this car has to get used to. but my question is does anyone have this problem. Ill try and get a video. I mean the car is perfect no weird noise. timing is perfect. i no the compression went from 9.6.1 to 8.5.1 and its probably not burning all the gas that goes into the combustion chamber. any tips on anything i can use to help? I pulled the spark plugs and they are look real white.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ued7JJaJR-0 fast forward to 6:00 on the video unless u wanna watch all of it.
this was the second day it ran. it was still doing that but its not noticeable on video. its not something you notice but something u feel. i thought it was just breaking in since its all new but it aint going away
and btw its all stock right now. stock headers, stock everything but with a short ram intake. power steering etc... no check engine lights.
