Default Questions about the MSD Activation Window and nitrous

I read that you need to have a MSD High Current Relay when you get an activation window, is this true and if so why is it necessary?

also, what exactly does the switch turn on and off? for example on a zex kit would it just be inline on the main arming switch, or what?

You don't need the MSD relay, you can use Bosch type relay (12volt/30Amps).
The switch is in a "window" via the supplied rpm pill.

The window swtich is wired inline to the system and arming switch. In the window switch you select the rpm range you want the the nitrous injected.

Example 3100 and 6700 rpm pills. When the system is armed and you go WOT the nitrous is only injected between 3100-6700 rpm's.
The window switch is a safety feature in a nitrous setup.

Adobe acrobat needed to view:
Below are the some info on those products.

thanks for the links

I understand about the pills and what the switch is for, but I was just a bit confused on what you are switching in the case of a zex kit because there is no separate solenoid for the nitrous, its all enclosed in the little box. Are you just killing the power to it, as if you were toggling the arming switch?

A window switch really wouldnt be needed on the zex kit becuase it learns the curve of your tps (throtte positioning sensor) BUt you could install one if you want.

to clear things up for you the window switch is used like this, there is a low rpm setting and a high rpm setting. It is designed so that the nitrous system can not be activated untill your engines rpm matches that of the low range pill. And the high range is to cut off the nitrous system so you dont squeeze into your rev limiter , cuase thats not good either. HTH

yeah, thats exactly why I want one, so I don't have to worry about accidently sparying while hitting the fuel cutoff. Why would it not be necessary? the zex kit sprays at WOT, right? which would mean it doesn't care if you are below 3000rpms, or hitting the fuel cutoff, its still spraying, correct?

if that is the case, then I do need one I'd rather be safe than sorry.
