Ah I was hoping to hear somthing like this. Thanks for the post. I guess the full elec sweep gauges work better than the mech or half sweep.

I have an electrical EGT gauge and i compared temperature readings from the exhaust probe between my multimeter (which reads K type thermocouples, which is what the Autometer probe is) and the autometer gauge and i found it to be pretty accurate, or as accurate an analogue gauge is ever going to be with the reading error etc. It was out by about 10-20 degrees which in the scope of things does not really matter.

Looks like i will go for an electrical Boost gauge myself and get rid of the mechanical one.

I have a mechanical autometer boost gauge and it says im reading 6.5 psi when the spring on my turbo is set at 5.5 psi. So I'm assuming that the autometer is not very accurate because its reading is 1 psi higher than what I'm suppose to be boosting at. Sometimes when my car is turned off, the needle points sits a little into the vacuum range. I want to boost around 8 psi, but I'm not sure if I should trust the gauge reading of 8psi, or turn it up so the gauge reads 9 psi, but in reality I'm boosting 8psi. This frustrates me since I do not know what I'mreally boosting at.

I have Autometer EGT. Boost, Air/Fuel, Water Temp, Oil, and Fuel Pressure guages and they all work fine. The only thing I did not like about them was that there was too many wires to deal with, unlike (of what I have been told) Greedy. My EGT, Fuel and Air/Fuel are electric. The Fuel was sort of a bitch. It came with a control box and 10 wires to be connected. I messed up when i bought a manuel oil. Buy electric. If not you should definitely get a steel braided line if the oil guage is inside the car. As for the boost not reading properly, maybe you should check where you installed the line to read boost. That will make a difference. All in all Autometer gyages work fine. They have been around forever. Greedy, Apex-i, Defi are great guages too, but you are also paying for the "NAME".
One piece of advice, that I did not know when purchasing my guages, is when ordering your Autometer EGT, order a Pyrometer. It serves the same purpose as the EGT, actully it is an EGT. It say's exhaust gas temp. underneath the word Pyrometer. We'll anyways, the pyrometer comes with a probe kit in the box rather than buying one seperate. I spent around 90.00 for the EGT guage and 90.00 for the probe. You should be able to get a Pyrometer for around $100.00 bucks. If anyones interested instant message me and I will try to find you a part number, if I can find my catalog!
Also if yo get Phantoms, throw away the bulbs that come with it. Go to your local performance shop and get the blue bulbs that are bright white when turned on! The guages look a hell of a lot better at night!
Good luck!

I thought the greddy kit for the GSR was set at 7.5 lbs. and you also said you are reading a little off towards the vaccume. so im sure your boosting at 7.5

ive got the greddy kit and ive got some terrible boost creep, im bumpin at 9 psi sometimes.

Before I installed my intercooler the autometer boost gauge was reading at 8psi. After the intercooler, it was reading around 6 psi or so. And I also get some really bad boost creep, after installing a turboXS mbc...my max boost is like at 8 lbs. but sometimes I see 10.5lbs.

Good luck with that, but I did'nt like the way it looked. Actually the guages do come with a red and green bulb cover. Try it out and see what you think.

I really really really want Defi Gauges, maybe I can afford them next year, seemss like a waste to buy Autometer guages now though, but it's just that they are soooo shitty.

I don't understand something, you guys are saying that the autometer electric full sweep gauges are more accurate than the electric half sweep gauges? Why would this be?
