Default question on wastegate setup

FYI - this is a no name wastegate.

Call me a noob or whatever you like, but my question is:

On my current setup, I only have one vacuum line coming off the bottom air fitting on the wastegate and it goes to the bov/intake mani.

The hole on the compressor side of the turbo is plugged (doesn't a vacuum line usually go here?). Basically, I don't have an air fitting on top of mywastegate going to the turbo.

Is this weird? If it's not making any sense, maybe I can get some pics for visual

Thanks.

you don't use the top fitting on the wastegate unless you're running an electronic boost controller. run the bottom fitting to a better source of vacuum. I use the fitting on the turbo compressor for quick response. you will generally use a few psi in the intercooler so a 11psi spring might open at 9psi, like mine does.

Great. Thanks for the quick response.

So - It's ok to leave the top port empty. Should I plug the hole with something?

Only use the top port on the WG if I have an ELECTRONIC boost controller and don't use it for a manual boost controller either, right?

It's not going to create a leak if I don't use it?

I guess I'm dumber to this stuff than I thought.

Thanks!

Yes, leave the top port unplugged if you are not using a boost controller, electric or manual. The bottom port is sealed off from the top so there is no leak to worry about.

OK - I do plan to install a MBC this weekend.

There is still no need to use the top port. I can just run it from the wastegate vaccum (lower air port) to the boost controller then tee into the intake manifold vacuum/BOV line.

Right?
