question about VAFC HACK
Hello,
I am in you forum since some months and I read with a lot of pleasure yours topics.
I have civic EX year 97 and I am going to turbocharge.
I will use VAFC HACK as fuel management.
I read a lot of topics cons and pros for this solution.
My problem is that I am living in France and I will be the first civic turbocharged.
We have not dyno everywhere and no good shops to tune with Ubertada etc...
So, is Hack a good solution ?
Will I have no problem for my engine ?
It idle well ?
Thanks for France

Re: question about VAFC HACK (ktran1)
it really depends on what your goals are and how much you have read into the VAFC set up.. I use it but will go with either uberdata or AEM EMS soon. I am using 550cc RC engineering injectors with a JDM P13 ECU. I have no idle problems but it took alot of research and time to figure out the best settings for my vehicle. If where you are located does not have access to a DYNO then try to purchase a wideband O2 and use that as your tuning device. Remember turbo motors should never go lean while in boost. Good Luck.

theres plenty of hate on this forum for the hack
i personally still have it for about 6 mths now and the car runs as strong as the first day
i have the MSD BTM with it to control timing
and without any tunning at all i got 180 whp and 163 wtq
as far as being a solution for a place that doesnt have dyno access or any kind of more help than we do, i say go for it... runs pretty good for what it is
if u go with true engine management, like Hondata, TUrboedit, Uberdata , etc etc u will run like **** unless u dyno it
and my experience with the hack is that is idles perfect on cold and hot, runs great, good boost transition and i havent yet detonated with it

Re: (Tchleung)
i think a wideband should be in everycar...
boosted or not.. i have yet to tune my turbo hatch, but i know above 60% throttle and under boost its leaning out.. you would never know this if you didn't have a wideband.
if you don't have dyno.. think of it as an investement of 2 dyno sessions... its worth it.
street tune it... its worth it.
