Question about elevation and ignition timing.....
all right guys, i got my car tuned in San Jose a couple of months ago (sea level) and they set my total advance on my igntion map at 17 degrees. (so 1 degree of advance, my base timing is at 16 degrees.) i live in reno, nv, 4500 feet elevation, so my question is, do you think i would be safe to advance it a couple three degrees at the dizzy? the car runs fine, no bogging or missfiring or detenation. just looking for a little more power.
i talked to a couple of muscle car guys and they said on a N/A motor, a good rule of thumb is for every 1000 feet in elevation you can advance it by one degree. but that is N/A, not forced induction. so i thought i ask here. thanks in advance for any help.
