Default Quick question about ignition timing.

Car is below. I want to check and possibly advance the timing a little this friday.

Question is this. Say my timing is 16 BTDC. Would advancing the timing be 14 BTDC
or 18 BTDC? I believe 18 BTDC is retarding the timing. I would like a little clarification is all.

Thanks!

Up the numbers is advance, down the numbers is retard.

See thats what I mean. Upping the numbers as in 14 BTDC or 18 BTDC?

Because upping it would be 14 BTDC as I approach 0, right?

I know how to set timing but I am having a serious brain fart here.

Thanks!

How is 14 up when your start at 16? Now if you start at 0 everything would be up as there is no negative in timing. I dont think this is a brain fart i think your just confusing yourself to much. K.I.S.S. never forget.

Stock B16 timing is 16 BTDC. You can pull a little more out of your car by going to 17, but you don't want to go backwards, i.e. 14 BTDC
