Pulled out plug wire, runs the same.....what could be wrong? (really need help)
Okay guys, here's the deal:
The car still bogs a little at low throttle before hitting boost. There was a previous problem with the fuel delivery, that seems to have been fixed with a new MAP sensor, injectors, GSR intank pump, and Cartech FMU.
HOWEVER!!....my friend tries something out. He pulls a plug wire out of cylinder 3......nothing. The car still idles fine. He pulls it out of 4, it kinda runs the same, but sputters when you rev it.
Pulling it out of cylinders 1 and 2, nearly cause the motor to die, which is expected. WTF can cause that to happen in cylinders 3 and 4???!? Is my motor dead? Am I running on two cylinders? How come my car is still pretty fast?? Arghh!!
Incidentally, here are the compression test results:
1: 180
2: 180
3: 165
4: 190
What could it be guys? I really appreciate the help, this turbo has been nothing but problems so far!
I have a Drag III kit.....AFC is all set to zero.....boosting at about 4psi.

Normally I'd say compression but yours seems acceptable. Try plug wires, cap, rotor first. If that's not the problem, maybe plugged injectors? Are plugs coming out oil fouled? Bad oil ring will still give you good compression but cause poor performance.

If you can pull the #3 plug wire out while it is running and the idle doesnt change, nor the performance....then that cylinder isnt firing. Check for spark and fuel on that cylinder. What does that plug look like?

And how could the car still be running so fast with only 2 or 3 cylinders? I can still hear a spark hit metal surfaces when I pull the plug wire out and touch it to metal. Help guys....thanks.

I have a new distributer cap and rotor, 1999 GSR injectors, and 1999 GSR intank fuel pump....oh and a new MAP sensor. Still, it doesn't seem to be firing. What else could it be?

What's the leak down on that 3rd cylinder? You need to do that test as well. That should tell you if its in the head or the bottom end. If that plug isn't soaked in oil, then its prolly the head.

Run the car in a dark place at night. Look under the hood and you will see exactly where the spark is jumping. Or if you are a fan of Jackass, ground yourself and grab wires until you fry yourself.
