Default proper way to install block gaurd

i thought that i saw a while back a thread about how to properly install a block gaurd. anyone have any tips. i was just gonna press it in. then grind a few spots down below the deck height and weld in those spots so that way when i have it decked it won't take away the welds. then of course deck the block and then hone. does this sound correct?

Most people don't bother to weld them in.But then again most people don't use them anymore.
