Default Problems, built new motor!

Hi guys
I have just finished building up my motor and started up. After doing 50 kilometers, i have decided to check my plugs, i ve noticed that on piston no:4 there was oil on the surface of the piston, and a very dark black glaze on the plug. I have changed the valves ,springs +retainers but did not change the valve seals.

I have tried a compresion test , and everything seems to be ok , 195 PSI on each cylinder inc no:4.

As regards i have noticed that it s blowing some white smoke from the exhaust, but very minor, when i push the car till 5500rpm on boost.

Can somebody help me pls in this prob, cause i m very fed up with my motor.

It s been a year since i ve been trying to boost this motor up! since then i have never had a positive experience!

You must be running too rich. Do you have a WB o2 meter? If not, get one.

white smoke usually equal head gasket failure

I have also noticed that oil can cause a white looking smoke when it is not acutally burned in the cylinder but cooking in the exhaust system. I have seen several cars with bad turbo seals on the exhaust side that smoked white smoke however if it would have been on the intake side and the oil was actually burned in the cylinder it would look blue. My prediction is valve seals, the white smoke may be oil leaking out the exhaust seals and into the exhaust system. The oil in the cylinder is of course the intake seals leaking. When the head was off was it cleaned in a parts washer or anything like that? If so it probably ruined the seals and they should have been replaced after that.

Quite possibly the dumbest response anyone could have made. Let's go and scare him by saying his head gasket is bad, even though his compression is perfect

Cylinder #4 may be running a little bit more rich than the other for some reason. I wouldn't worry about it. Get it tuned and you'll most likely be good to go

What are you using for fuel management?

I hope your not breaking in the motor this rich, there's a possibility you COULD wash away your rings if you have too much fuel - Just something to consider.

Why? The compression is perfect, he has nothing to worry about. Who takes apart motors with perfect compression?

You can have a bad HG and good compression test. I've done it!

I'm sure there were a lot more symptoms than "a little bit of white smoke from the tailpipe" though. To come to the conclusion that the head gasket is bad because of a little white smoke is preposterous.

i second this theory that you washed cylinder number 4 somehow. Especially since u see oil in that cylinder.

compression doesen't have to be low to have a blown head gasket, or a warped mating surface.

If you didnt change the valve seals on your head they could be leaking also. Just check for lots of white smoke out of exhaust.
