Default Precision Turbo Advice

Currently i have a stock gsr block thats been rebuilt... i will be running a love fab mani w/a custom water/air intercooler setup...

I was lookinf for the best turbo to support 7psi as of now...and eventaully to support my 400whp goal in most likely a 83mm ge block w/ crowers and cp pistons....

what would your suggestions be...im shooting for a 5g spool up area...

spit you ideas my way...what size and a/r...i most likely want the .63 to keep the wheels from spining all day...

ideas on a similar setup and when you hit full boost would be greatly appreciated!

I would recommend the sc34. Supports 500+ hp with "proper" tuning. Pm arturbo for more detailed specs. Good Luck

Look at the SC61 with an E housing as well. It should do really well at 7 psi as well as be capable of 500+ wheel horsepower when properly tuned.

34 will spool up a bit quicker but will not provide the ultimate power up top of the big dog 61.. There are turbos in the middle. Check precisions new web site..

how much psi do you need to run on an sc34 to get 500hp? I had it on 15 psi and was only getting 290.

I would honestly think it'll take about 30psi or so to make 500whp on the sc34. And you'll be way out of it's efficienty range.

Honestly the sc34 will be good for now whiile your running 7psi, but if your goal is 400 whp, i would go with something bigger . Tlak to art he can point you in the right direction. If i were you i woudl go with a .63 a/r and somehting slightly smaller than the sc61 if your looking for full boost @ 5k.

I would suggest the sc61. the sc61 is one of the most efficient turbos ont he market right now. It make power at 6psi all the way to 30+. basically witht he sc61 you have a great low boost turbo with the option of being able to go up with the boost w/o having to change turbos.

i dont know which one i have but it could be the sc-50 which i like and supposely you can make 400+ whp with this turbo which I dont see how when I got the exducer at .48 which now I want to go with the same exact specs but with the exhaust at .63 like everyone else that gets good numbers.

i like mine on the ls since i hit full boost at 4k rpm.

no complains here boostin on a stock ls motor.

is sc61 and 81mm bore b18c block a bad combo? far as speaking of lag? is the lag worth the power? or is a sc34 better, i mean like is it gonna lag so much that smaller turbo cars that reach full boost earlier might be compitition to keep up with?

This is on 9:1 compression and 84mm bore, so with 10:1 compression, I would at least think it'll spool the same if not sooner. Paul

i have an sc54 on my gsr with 10.0:1 comp., full-race mani and back-door intercooler. turbo begins to spool around 3000 and full boost hits around 4500, although i think this is more a result of a great manifold design (full-race ) since the sc54 is on the bigger side. sc54 supports up to around 620 hp, and precision tends to underrate their turbos.
