precision 600hp ic with what size ic pipes? please help
i will be using the precision 600hp intercooler and it has 2.75" inlet/outlet. i will be making 500-525 whp. does it make sense to use 2.5" ic pipe or would that just be kinda dumb to do with 2.75" inlet/outlet? thank you for the help.

I have the same IC with 2.5" piping. They are 2.75 OD on the IC. I had to get 2.75" to 2.5" reducers (which were $25 each!). I don't think it is necessary to go any larger than 2.5".
check my sig if you want to take a look.

now when they say 600 hp, do they mean its at its highest efficiency at that power level or how do they do that?

i guess im asking, since the intercooler is rated at 600 hp, not necessarily what happens after 600 hp but does the efficiency drop very fast?

your effciency is going to start to drop before 600hp, since you goal is below 600whp your fine.
Also if you want to crank above 600 hp you can do a shot of co2 or nitrous on it for race day.
good luck with you build

ok, thank you. so when they say 600hp, they mean that intercoler will cool the air of a machine making below 600 hp. 600hp is their max recommendation for that size of core. ive always wondered what they meant, yeah it gives us a suggest hp rate, but never knew what they really meant by it.

correct remeber that the intercooler has a hand in cooling. your turbo will also play a big part depending on cooling factor the wrong turbo will screw everything up. it's a great intercooler thats what i run. it has a low psi loss but it's thicker than most i've seen so it makes up abit for having less channels.

ill be using a pt-71, running about 20 psi, my goal is about 500 whp. so i thought that the precision 600 hp ic would be a decent choice, what do you think?

Re: precision 600hp ic with what size ic pipes? please help (tgh99si)
i emailed precision about what the hp rating means when they say this is a 600hp intercooler or a 750 hp intercooler. heres the reply. thought it would be good to know if no one knew it before. i asked about the 600hp as you can see.
That intercooler is rated to support up to 600 flywheel horsepower. If you have
the room for it, I would highly recommend running the AS1026, which is rated to
support 750 flywheel horsepower. It sounds like you don't want to push that PT71
too hard, but I feel that if you run 18lbs of boost you are going to start
getting out of the intercoolers inefficiency range.

yeah see your 500-550 will be at the peak. you will be fine since you not going to be pushing 550 all the time
