Icon2 Power Loss and dont know why

my friend had to rebuild his motor. he pulled the motor, rebuilt it and put it back in. it was tuned up to 500 hp. when he put the motor back it lost power. it boost up but gets rich for some reason. he did not change anything, just rebuilt it. it runs great under normal driving. the boost pressure will go up to where he sets the boost controller but does have the power he use to. does anybody have any ideals and is there an easy way to check for leaks?

thanks

why did it need to get rebuilt in the first place? Have you check the compression ratio on the motor? that would be a start...

the sleeves sank so he had to get the block decked .005. he lost a little compression but this would not cause the problem. I think he has a boost leak somewhere but he cant find it.

thanks

Decking would of increased his C/R...

When it gets hot out turbo cars lose power due to higher IAT's, check obvious things like boost leaks and do a compression/leakdown test as well for peace of mind.

compression test was 175, 175, 170, 175. Found a couple of small leaks, fixed them but still same problem. He marked the distributor when he took it off but could be off slightly. Could this be it?

Get us leakdown numbers. Though not sure how much that will help if you don't have numbers from before the sleeve sinking.
