Default Powdercoating Intercooler piping? (Mild Steel) yah or Nay?

the piping I recivecd from MaxRev was made of mild steel, I was told that it rust easily. It won't hinder performance or anything but... hell it's rust. I was told that powdercoating it would prevent it from rusting.

What do you guys think? I was thinking of powdercoating them Flat Black. Maybe everything black, hell why not?

I was going to powdercoat mine but I just stripped them and painted them flat black with high heat engine paint.

Yeah, and I thought it was supposed come with a charger pipe and a inlet pipe too. I also thought it was supposed to come with a BOV, but... I'm here, and I don't have any of that. hmmmmmm.

Live and learn, I would've gone Greddy or Drag, that or I would have customly made my own kit peice by peice.

How much does powdercoating cost? I have never done it before.

well, it only costs about $35 here to get your valve cover sandblasted and powdercoated so I'm figuring around $15 a pipe or so.

Krylon flat black worked great for me. Why waste the money for powder coating?

why are you powdercaoting the pipes? My mild steel piping rusted from teh inside out...powdercoating does not solve this. it only hides it.

Here is what I suggest. Jet it caoted by JetHot(they use a liquid substance) or find a place that can do electrolist nickle plating....

yeah, why waste the money for powder coating. PC is for wheels and things that could chip easily... even then its still pointless. Krylon paint is a GREAT spray paint and it is easy to touch up if it gets scratched. If you are making something to be heat resistant, use dupli-color engine enamel "w/ ceramic" ... actually stops heat.

And this will prevent rust from inside and out? How much more does it cost to get it Jet Hot coated? I am very interested if it is reasonable.

I remember being quoted somewhere around 10-12 bucks per foot for the black coating....

powdercoating and spray painting can't get into all the little tight spaces taht a liquid can get to

The powdercoating place will powder coat the inside of the piping.

And that will prevent rust throughout?

See, now I don't know what I want to do.

If I want to get Jet hot coating all over/in/out/everwhere in my pipes, or Powdercoating all over/in/out/everywhere in my pipes.

If they both cost the same then I guess it couldn't hurt to get it JetHot coated.

Well, I looked up on JetHot and stuff. Sounds great, and I would love to do it, but it isn't as easy to get to as Powdercoating can.

I mean, I can just drive half a hour and get it done and there, but with JetHot it is going to be more of a hassle. I mean, I would love to get it JetHot coated but if Powdercoating will do the same thing if I powdercoat the inside and out, then I rather go through less trouble.
