Poll: Keep this turbo or go for a 60/63?
Hey All,
If u saw my post about a week ago, you saw that I went out to this junkyard to buy a turbo I called on. I was supposed to be a T3 from a mustang with .60 A/R compressor hosuing, .48 A/R turbine housing, and 60 trim wheel.
Well, I get there and the damn thing looks like this:
Notice the exhaust flange. What a mess. I decided to take a 75 buck gamble on it since it was one of the only ones I foudn in this entire state! After playing with it and cleaning it and whatnot, I decided that it was too much trouble to try and find a new turbine housing, and too much of a PITA to weld a new flange on.
I decided that this time I would look for a T3 with 60/63 and 60 trim from a 85-86 Ford T-Bird 5 speed. Well I found one stinking place that had one for the entire state and went to check it out. Bastards! It has .48 A/R stamped right on the turbine, and I tell them they are mistaken, this has to be from a auto. They tell me they might have one out in the yard, and lead me to a merkur, it had the 48 turbine too!
I tell him that Im sorry, but this isnt what I need. I said "well, ill take it off your hands if you gimme a crazy deal, but its not relly what I need." He said he would go down to 100 bux, and I said sorry, and started walking out the door. That did it and I had him in my hands, got him down from 250 to 75!
Here is my new turbo. I dunno if I will keep it or keep searching for the 60/63.
