I decided to err on the side of caution and overbuild mine with sleeves. No regrets, the motor was rock solid, made 380-408 WHP and ran for years, sometimes doing 20+ passes/night and running on a road course as well. It's still running in the guy's car that I sold it to after I built my new motor (also sleeved). Lots of people make that much on stock sleeves with a good tune though, but lots of people blow their **** up too.

Cliff's notes: I would, even though it may not be completely necessary.

**** can happen when you least expect it reguardless of who tunes it. Fork out the additional $800-1000, sleeve it and be done with it.

You're in Tampa? There are supposed to be lots of good tuners there.

I recently worked on a car John @ LHT assembled and tuned... it's super conservative in that he set it up to need racegas for the 400 whp high boost setting, but on low boost and BFG drags with cords showing the car ran 7.64@94 in the 1/8th last Thursday. Judging by the car, I'd say he could knock a safe 400 out of stock sleeves all day long, if you decide to go that route.

my GSR is bored over to a 2.0 and running the block guard. its been holding up great to 400. i wouldn't go over 500 on it. but i'll most likely find out how much it can really take.
