Default please HELP, no VTEC

just got my car on the road today for the first time with the turbo, its a t3/to4e, 12:1 FMU, inline pump, stock injectors, oh yeah its on a b16 in a 91 hatch, well after a few trys of not making any boost, i finally got that straight but now i can not figure out why my vtec is not engaging...when it hits 5K rpms it loses power...no vtec, it loses power at 5K and then it starts to make boost after that. and i unpluged vtec and drove it and it doesn't die at 5K it will pull all the way through, so thats why i figure its the vtec not working....so if anyone has any ideas PLEASE let me know....i'm about to go crazy!!!! TIA

It could be a number of things, really. Need more info.... but....

Did Vtec work b4 the turbo ?
Check you oil level, needs to be full.
Is there a check engine light ? If there is... dump the codes... you may be getting a vtec code.
Low oil pressure can cause no vtec and a CEL, so do you have an oil pressure gauge ?

What is your timing set at ?
Also try running minimum boost, see if she will go into vtec.
I'm sure others will give you ideas...

The setup should rip when it's fixed !

You didn't get a CEL when you unplugged Vtec ?

How are you handling the Map sensor signal w/ the boost ?

where is your oil send line routed? Supposedly the send line should be as short a distance from the block to the turbo as possible. Sometimes if the line is too long you will loose oil pressure and vtec will not engauge. Thats why I run my send line over my valve cover. Doesn't look the prettiest but my vtec works.

Are you sure the power loss isnt from over fuelling?

I had bogging at 5K rpm up till I got it tuned.

one other thing you can check is where to oil feed is coming from for the turbo, a friend of mine when he first put his turbo kit on tapped into the head for the oil, right next tot he Vtec solonoid

so everytime he got to boosting the turbo stole most of the oil pressure and the vtec would not engage
