Default piston/rod combo, suggestions

I'm debating on a few set ups for my d16z6 block I'm mildley building up. I want to go with a 9:1 CR and I do not need a set up that will allow high revving (don't plan on going past about 7200 rpm's)

few set ups I've been thinking about are:
eagle rods/srp pistons
crower econo billet rods/srp pistons
manley rods/srp pistons

I'm also debating on throwing in a block guard, so any comments on those are welcome also.

my goals are going to be 250-300 whp.

any input and links to good sites anyone has had experience buying from will be helpful.

we're in the same boat... I'm considering a mild build up of my d16y8 this summer. The head I might most likely leave stock.

I was considering Eagles for rods as well but debating piston choice. 9:1 is as low as I want to go as well. Blockgaurd I will also have to do more research on.

The prices on eagle rods are very nice but you get what you pay for. I would have to recommend JE 9:1:1 pistons and Crower rods. That setup has been proven to work time after time. Im iffy on eagle rods.

I don't think JE makes d16z6 pistons and wiseco only has 8.5 C.R

what's wrong with eagle rods? there about the same price as the crower econo billet rods, so should I go with the eagle's or crower?

EDIT

since I'm a trial user I cannot reply, only 5 post 24 hour period, if a mod is reading this please remove my trial user status...

on another note, I am not on a cheap budget, it's just I don't feel like throwing down 1200 on a piston/rod combo when my only goals are 250-300whp, I just need something that will get me there safely, not something that would support 400++ hp

I wouldn't go with srp , i've had bad experiences with them. i went with ross because they've been around for ages and a lot of the hot rodders use them. they're also pretty cheap too, i got mine from flatlanderracing.com for $359. as for the eagle rods, they're great if you don't plan on exceeding over 400whp as they've been known to hold up to 600hp on a TUNED motor. and the blockguard thing, have it welded in for security. i had mine welded 5-6 militmeters down from the top of the block so that i would be able to fully utilize all of the openings on the blockguard.

I hear bad things about SRP here and there, but nothing solid...

I know there has to be some semi built d series guys on here with plenty of experience, I just want to hear what people have had good or bad experiences with..

i have not put it together yet but my set up will ( i have everything in my garage just taking my time putting it together.)

SRP pistons 9:1 ten over. (Made by JE)
reworked b18 rods for the d16z6
STR block gaurd
ACL bearings
dsm 450's
smc
greddy kit with FMIC
stock z6 head
6 puck clutch
turbo XS boost controler
turbo XS BOV
2.5 inch exhaust (no cat)

and since i am obd-0 now i have bownhatch's conversion harness and a p28 to install with all this.

i am looking for around 250hp

with the SRP's i was in bore spec (.003) clearance with the standard bore pistons and after installation i was getting MAD piston slap!! damn noise drove me insane!! my motor sounded like ****!! well, i thought it was only me so i took my motor apart and had my mechanic check it and call up SRP. well turns out they were in spec and my mechanic couldn't find out why i was getting that noise. so i drove around with them for awhile and man let me tell you, it made me feel like getting rid of my car so badly. i was embarassed to be seen in my car because of that nasty noise.
