Default piston ring gap

piston ring gap on a turbo wiseco 81.5mm piston.....looking to get 400 hp.........what is the best gap on the piston ring....

Usually you should have the ring gap specified in the packaging. Usually turbo cars go for .30 on the top ring and .20-.21 on the bottom. (cp pistons)

What engine is this for? i used .018 top ring and second ring .015 inch for turbo gsr on my build.

and i used .022 and .25 for my first and second ring.


theres a formula, its like bore diameter in inches x .0065 or .007

Wiseco XX use, .016 top and .018 bottom.

XC, may have to increase it by .002-.003

At that rate, your oil will prolly be all over the combustion chamber. Not all rings are made alike, some material hardly expands. I have had Wiseco XX rings on .012 and .013. 2% leakdown and the rings never touched when I pulled it out.
