Personally, if you're gonna boost, I wouldn't go over a 81.50mm bore otherwise get your block sleeved. Wall thickness doesn't really determine what pistons you should get. I'm running some Supertech 81.50mm 9.0:1 pistons. They're forged, they're the same pistons a Mahle supposedly, and they only cost $380 with pins and rings!

What kind of motor? Stock sleeves or aftermarket? 9.0:1 is the absolute lowest I would go.

Since you're gonna sleeve it, use darton sleeves and send it to a vendor who can do the sleeving for you. They have sleeves at different sizes or you can bore the sleeves out to the size you want. The bigger the bore, the more torque! If you really wanna go big, just get the 84mm bore size and some 84mm pistons to match it and you'll be puttin a ton of torque down. dancing_ninja is right. Don't go below 9.0:1 because anything below that is gonna be compression for a track car that's gonna be making 600+whp with 30+psi of boost. I know supertech has a 9/9.1/9.5:1 pistons from

You can choose the compression and the bore size you want, and they're only $390!!!!

I would go 84mm with Arias racing pistons 9.5:1 and Eagle H beam rods.
Coast to coast G.E. engine sleeves let you boost the most.
We wont sink your ship or your sleeves.
Go Big power with G.E. and fly like an eagle.
Sleeve service includes step decking.
Our sleeve design is like having four block guards stacked.
G.E. will help you get off the porch and run with the big dogs.
PM for pricing.

We and most other racers run considerably higher compression than 9.0. You actually want to run higher pending what kind of gas you'll be running. For a street car 9.5 to 10 is very efficient. I believe there is a misconception of having to run lower compression. Especially for Hondas.

If you're gonna buy a new short block, I wouldn't even bore it then. Keep the sleeves as thick as possible. I only needed to bore mine to 81.5mm because I wanted my pistons to have the perfect clearance and a hone would've made it just too wide because its been honed before. If there's no need to bore, then don't. Hone it and leave it at 81mm. Sleeving is pretty expensive, and honda sleeves in a gsr are pretty strong as long as you aren't running too much boost and you have a good tuner.

arias pistons are the best, with stock sleeves go 81mm, for aftermarket sleeves go for 81mm too so if you damage a sleeve you can bore it again and again and again...
bigger bore doesn't make that much difference...

Your block might be junk afterwards too...or need an align hone for $300+. Check out laskey racing and benson sleeves. GREAT SHOP!
