piping keeps blowing off
why does my intercooler piping keep blowing off at the track? i had this kit for about 2 years now "drag 3 kit" had no problems before at the track. now when i finally get the slicks to hook up and get 1.8 60fts my pipes blow off the silicon hoses right at 6,000 rpm near the finish line....it happened two times to me already at sacramento raceway on july 12...i think the weather had to do something with it maybe it was so freaking hot that day
I blew mine off at the track in the semifinals round and lost to a stock SRT-4. The next day I placed a small bead of JB weld to flare the ends. They stayed on ever since! Best thing was I used the rest of the tube to fix my oil drip on the oil return flange.
i'm going to try to put that jb weld stuff on... that sounds like a good idea...i really didnt want to weld a bead around the pipe ends...so i'm going with the jb weld
I did all my pipes, I left about 1-2mm of space on the end of the pipe, then I made a bead about 2mm wide and 1-2mm tall, I sanded the ends ahead of time, and it was kind of hard not to let it drip. I had to let it sit about 8 minutes before applying.

if you dont try the JB weld idea look into getting some good heavy duty clamps. or Tclamps. Personally never blown a charge pipe off with the T clamps./
I flared my piping ends with a vise-grip .. really easy to do and it works very well.
IMO jbweld could crack and go into the engine .. I have no personnal experience with it tho ..

Instead of regular jb weld, they have similar stuff except its a putty instead of being more liquid. You can just roll out a thin strip. Much easier to work with, no drips.

you can just use any ol cheap welder and weld a lil bead around the ends. that's what i did.
Also what kinda car do u have and what times were u hittin at sac.

JB Weld will never crack!!!!!!!!!!!!! plus it goes on the outside of the charge pipes, so unless it somehow finds it's way in then you should be ok. But flaring the ends seems quicker and just as effective.

that vise grips idea sounds even better...how big of a lip did you make like 1 cm length wise then bent it up like a 1 cm?
for my car specs i have a integra gsr turbo with 24.5x8x13 m/t slicks. Here is what my time slip said when i blew my intercooler pipes off... when it happened it was at 3rd or 4th gear at 6,000 rpm and stayed there then i let off the gas and cruised it to the line

My best time i hit at the track on that day was 13.3 @ 105 mph...the funny thing is my little brother beat me to the 12 second club damnit in his white EK!! lol im happy for him though he hit 12.962 @ 105.473 mph with a 1.917 60 ft

Thanks man that gives me an idea to fix two little problems i've been having. I keep blowing off the clamp right before the u-bend that goes into the intercooler. It also gives me an excuse to fix a tiny oil leak on my oil pan. jb weld
