Default Peak boost kit install

my tuner is finsihing up my turbo kit now. i bought the peakboost kit he said he couldnt believe how small the intercooler was. i should be making 420whp on a conbservative tune on pump gas. is this intercooler adaquate enough for that power. it states it supports 475WHP its made by pwr. but i dunno it seems to be the same size as the precsion and that one said it only supports 350. hence precison350. does anyone have experince with this size intercooler and making around the same power? ( PWR 24x6x3.5 Intercooler (2.5" inlet and outlet)mounts directly to factory bumper support 475whp supportable!)

i really shouldnt ever be making over 475 it is a street car. i dont think id push for more than 475whp with race gas. but will this intercooler actually support that? or should i upgrade it before even thinking of going over 420whp

i think you are fine. with a high quality/high effeciency brand like pwr there should be no problem making 420whp on that intercooler.

Jeff Evans wrote an article about intercoolers and gave the following rough estimates on cores.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Evans-Tuning &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">
Here is rough guideline of whp levels the PWR cores are rated for:

18x6x3: 350whp
20x8x3: 400whp
22x8x3: 450whp
24x8x3: 500whp
24x11x3: &gt;600whp

</TD></TR></TABLE>

so you would think that it could handle 475whp? you think going to a bigger intercooler may increase power output some since the intercooler i have now is borderline maxed out.

Unless Ken changed something he uses Garrett Cores and the part number is: 703520-6009 that core is rated by Garrett at 500hp.

So you will be fine at 400+whp.

yea they must have changed something.. here is the spec from the website:

PWR 24x6x3.5 Intercooler (2.5" inlet and outlet)mounts directly to factory bumper support 475whp supportable!

but my tuner had said he thought low 400's whp is probably all it could support. thats why i figured id ask if anyone else is using simliar sized intercooler witht he same power output. is it really worht the extra im going to have to spend to get another intercooler?

We've had many guys put out almost 500whp on the PWR fmic that is supplied with our standard kit.(unless it's on a notoriously low reading dyno)

we changed over to the PWR cores about 2 years ago, to allow more airflow to the radiator and help with engine cooling efficiency.
