Default Paying a shop for install...or doing it myself?

Ive considered just paying a shop to install my turbo kit. My friends are working really hard so I have basically no one to help me/show me how to do the install. We did it on my 92 Auto LS awhile back, but I have a tendency to get frustrated and cut corners, and thats not a good thing with a turbo. The shop I was thinking of taking it to is called turbo technologies: I know they do good work and I trust them. They want 600 for the install, including parts and piping from the intake to the turbo. For a spearco FMIC and install they want around 1300...what do you guys think?

do you want to go custom or do you want to buy a kit and have them or you install it? your questions a little ambiguous because you say that they will make you piping and install it...

i think you could install it yourself, its pretty basic. If you wanted, you could opt to bring the oil pan to have someone else poke a hole in it for you. plus, we're here too. theres a lot of pics to look at. patience is your best friend!

I think the only pain in installing a turbo is doing the piping, IMO the rest is bolt-on fun

G2 Integras are a pain to do piping, do u want to run the piping like DRAG(it's long) or Custom(drill holes, removing things)

Hassan- turbo looks great on your car. I have a civic and I am thinking about doing it with some friends. This is probably a really stupid question, but did the kit come with any type of installation instructions with it. I could probably figure it out if I had some direction or knew where to start.

I did the install myself on my 97 Civic. It was not hard at all. I took my time and did it well and have had no problems to speak of since. If you are in to cutting corners I would think about having someone else doing the job. I was quoted $700 for the install of my turbo, oil cooler, and intercooler. $700 that I did not have at the time, .

wouldn't the large diameter on the AEM hurt the velocity of the charged pipe ?

I mean, I think AEM is 2.75" in diameter...

but, nice install though

large diameter? i thought the AEM CAI's were small cuz i have a DAC from DC sports and my diameter is 3" even.

well, yeah, but AEM for GS-R are 2.75"

I am reallly curious to see how the 2.75" will affect the chraged pipe, compare to 2.25 on the regular kit piping...

thanks

that 2.75" charge pipe is just too big, that size of a charge pipe will increase turbo lag.

how significant is the lag ? I am just trying to save some money...as of right now..
I have a cheapo cold air intake laying around....

eventually I'll upgrade the IC piping near the future.

nah man i know this that its 2.75. im saying..i have a gsr too and i have the 3" diameter..the larger diameter gives u better torque in the lowend=better 60' soo the cold air extension in my thought would be a better setup than the AEM CAI cuz u also have the cold air and the larger diameter and also the option of going back to ur short ram setup

I charge 350-400 at my shop for the install. Just do it yourself if they want that much money. It isnt that hard. Just put the oil feed line on first.
