OT: anyone own a mr2 turbo with an upgraded turbo?
i was daydreaming about owning one someday. and i saw three turbo kits from greddy. td06sh, t-67, t-78. does anyone have the larger ones? i just finished reading about someone w/ street tires and the td06sh. he runs 12.7 in the 1/4th on street tires. also, does anyone know if all three are street legal?

Re: OT: anyone own a mr2 turbo with an upgraded turbo? (T3T4DA6)
I have the rebuilt CT26 with a T04E 50 trim compressor wheel on it and people have hit high 12s on street tires (17s) with this turbo. You can put down 250rwhp with a simple rebuild/upgrade of the stock turbo, but if you upgrade to the GReddy TD06, you're looking at a mid 12 with moderate boost (15psi)and 300rwhp...once you hit around 20 pounds or so with that turbo, your looking at high 11s, low 12s with some drag radials and close to 400rwhp while still handling and feeling like a Ferarri.
The T67 is an insane turbo for this car. A guy just dyno'd his car with the stock air flow meter which is very restrictive and a GForce ECU (different timing/fuel maps) and he dyno'd 299rwhp @11psi and like 270+lb/ft of torque. Our motors with stock internals can take at least 16psi, so just imagine how much power he'd have with a EMS and built motor at 20+psi.
You don't see too many insanely fast Mr2s around here cause not a lot of people build them for just drag racing, so they choose a decent size turbo so they don't loose that daily driveablility...A fun car none the less with a stock turbo, so a T-78 is for someone who has too much time/money and other cars to drive. There are a lot of 9 and 10 second Mr2s in Japan, but in Japan it seems like those fawkers have unlimited time and money.
But yeah, with a good conditioned Mr2 you can hit a mid to high 13 with just intake/exhuast and boost controller. Mostly due to the sub 2 second 60fts we can get with street tires
Bottom line, majority of people don't buy this car for drag racing so there's no need to buy the T78. Hope this answer some questions.

I have a buddy with a 93 mr2 who runs low 13's at 5000 feet elevation on a stock turbo with upgraded compressor housing, I think it is a 50 trim. low 13's is mid to high 12's at sea level. He has a vpx, safc, fuel cut defenser, etc. THis is on street tires as well.. I think the other turbo upgrades would be alot faster

Yeah, there are a few that run in the 12s with the upgraded CT26 turbo...and keep in mind that its just the compressor side of the wheel that has been altered...the actual turbine wheel itself isn't touched, so its still basically a stock turbo that is getting a little bit more in, but not all that much out....still better than stock though.
Its kinda wierd though, Mr2s are very tempermental when it comes to 1/4 mile times...Some people with just a rebuilt CT26 and basic mods hit low 13s, high 12s whereas people with the same mods hit like a 13.9 or sometimes even worse. Then there are the stock ones...Best I've seen personally is 14.3 bone stock, and worst I've seen is like a 15.6...Average is like 14.7 for a bone stock Mr2. Very high maintenence cars...if you don't change the spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor frequently, you lose LOTS of power at the high end. If you guys look in Turbo/Import Tuner mag when they had their project Mr2, they re-gained 10hp by just replacing the plugs!! So if you keep it in good shape, you'll see mid 14s stock for a 10+ year old car with 100k miles Not too bad for $5-7k either.
I just realized that I'm blabbing on, so I'm gonna stop. And I have no idea when the T78 turbo spools...The T67 spools fully around 4500-4800rpm.
