Ordering hondata, base map question?
I"m gonna call Max Rev today to see if they can get me in on there order of hondata, but how do the units come? Do I need to explain my whole setup and they have pre-programmed base maps or what? My concern is that the place I'm gonna have my car tunned is like 3-4 hours away and I need to be able to drive my car there on 550 injectors without damaging anything on the turnpike!?
You wont have any problems driving it. I drove around with no boost with my hondata for like 2 weeks on 550's and it actually ran a little better than stock, except for gas consumption.
By the way, where are you going to get it tuned at? Im in Pa also, but outside of philly.

you need to chose the right vendor, i have personally had a bad experience with max-rev and would not recommend them. I know others have been ok with them.
each vendor has access to the base maps sold with the stage 4, that were produced by customers like me, tuners and by hondata themselves. Some tuners feel their maps are so valuable they do not give them to hondata for redistribution (err err Tom Payne).
so you need to talk to a vendor that has tuned a setup similar to yours so you have a decent base map to work from. I have had good luck transfering my maps to others cars with similar setups, but that cant be guranteed.
Even when I went turbo my JRSC map worked great but you need to be careful that you get a map tuned for 550's. Most vendors will simply change the injector multiplier which will not yield good results, especially aorund idle.
Hope that helps.

so how is a base map loaded onto a 2b or a 3b. I dont have a hondata yet but is it just something that you load up onto the computer? does the 2b or 3b come with basic software to do such a feat or must you have stage 4 software to load up the base maps?
