You'll love it... if you're looking for something VERY simple that you can just plug and play with, and never have to burn a chip, its a great ecu... if you're shooting for -really- high power though (400+), the ECU could definately handle it, but for the tunability, i would go with something else like the AEM EMS. But for $750, its hard to go wrong, and you'll never have to burn a chip

I recomend the Z dyne as it works so well. I just tuned Scotters 98 Type R with 880 injectors to 400whp in about 4 runs on pump gas. Plus it has a bone smooth idle. I have sold and installed about 30 of these and not one problem thus far.

the zdyne is a really good system. I never used a stand alone before in my life and was still able to tune one with an 100% stock Ls head and block to a 11.4 @ 128 mph. that was in a 2450 lbs street car tuned only on the street. We switched to a built b16 turned the boost up and ran 10.0 @ 143 mph. The only complaint was that we still got check engine lights thrown.

Doesnt zdyne only make ecus for obd-0 cars. If so how did you get it to work with your 98 ITR. thanks

CRVRX has a OBD2 to OBD0 wiring conversion harness i believe... like doing an obd0 to obd2 conversion in reverse.. heh. Just get an OBD0 distributor, and a 1 wire O2 sensor, and go to town

The 'only' thing i don't like about ZDyne, is the lack of an adjustable RPM scale... there is only like 3 or 4 points of adjustment from 4400rpm all the way to redline. You can adjust at all the points along the vacuum and boost side, but sometimes it'd be nice to have more adjustments so that you can dial out any dips or small lean/rich spots while tuning... thats why i wouldn't use it on a -really- high hp car, because its nice to have more cells to tune in than the ZDyne can give.. but because of its simplicity, for an average street car, it rocks!

with zdyne do you just use the stock o2 sensor? or do you need to go to a wideband?

Stock... it is not compatible with any wideband O2's, unless you use the narrowband output from some of them, and wire it to the ZDyne... but either way, it doesn't know it is there.

Thats another 'pet peave' of mine with ZDyne... no datalogging, and you can't extract a tune from the ECU... so if you lose the file you uploaded somewhow, you have to re-tune.... so keep backups! But even then, i'd still run it... its a nice and easy system to use.

Correct for the most part. I build his OBD2-0 conversion harnesses for his Zdyne setups, but I allow it to still run the 4 wire O2 sensor.

And i'll vouch for Jason and his awesome harnesses as well... make sure you order the harness from him if you decide to do something like that.

Ya know, i never wound up really using that one custom harness that you did for me a long time ago i used it for maybe a month in the car before the engine let go, and i decided to do something very very different... but it worked -great- for the time that i did use it... hehe

I do use Jasons harness's, He does take care of his customers and does nice work on time.

I have used Z dyne on everything from my 10,000 rpm N/A B20 Vtec to my 2.1 L Turbo CRX and has done job 100%.

We just tuned Scooter Type R with 880cc injectors and a 3 bar map sensor to 390whp in 5 dyno runs.

do you guys ever have a problem with check engine lights with the zdyne we love the set up but the check engine light would kill the consistancy. is there a way to not have to run an o2 sensor.

The only times I have had a check engine light w/ the SECU is when a sensor or wiring was screwed up... just like it should have.

I have never had a false check engine light w/ the SECU.

Good to hear, I was thinking about this system now that I finally have a some money to spend on a real EMS.
