Default opinions on bore size for turbo b17a

I'm getting my b17a resleeved by Golden Eagle, and I'm putting Eagle rods and Endyn pistons in it when I put it back together. I plan on running 14-18 psi as a high, and 8-10 psi as a low. I'm trying to decide between 81.5mm and 84.5mm. What is everyones take on bore size for a high boost application?

i say just go with 84mm, it'll give you more displacement and still be safe for that amount of boost you plan on boosting..

If you're gonna sleeve a block anyway, I'd try to pick up a FUBAR'd LS or GSR block, sleeve that, and go w/ the 1.7 crank in there. Go 84.5mm..

The R/S ratio is good, for one.
And due to the short stroke, your torque will keep on up high.
It'll be a nice setup.

I've already sent my b17 block in to get sleeved. Just deciding on what size pistons to get right now. So should 84.5mm be safe for mid-high boost?

yes..it should be good, even for 20 psi, maybe more with good tuning and fuel management..

You said you already sent your block out to get it sleeved, but you are just trying to decide what size piston to get...well it helps to decide what size you want before the block is sent out so Vince know's what size you are getting! You get pistons to match your bore. You dont get 81 mm sleeves and then get 84mm pistons...I know I'm stating the obvious here, but it sounds like in your post that this is how you are doing it, and I dont recommend calling Vince at the last minute to tell him what size bore you want...that can cause a lot of confusion. To answer your question though getting a larger bore should make getting power out of your setup easier, and on lower boost. Later!

whats wrong with sending the block to vince and getting a local machine shop to bore the sleeves to 84.5 to match the pistons??isnt the block sent back with 81mm sleeves with the ability to be bored to a 84.5?? or am i completely wrong??

From what I understood from the guy I sent the block through (who I payed through to get the group buy), the use the same standard sleeve no matter what size bore you will end up with. I've talked to Golden Eagle 3 different times and never got exactly the same story, so I'm not sure how it works.

I'd go with an 83 MM bore, as you can use the high boost sleeves.. that's what the website quotes as the max bore for those sleeves is.
