Opinions on B16a turbo setups????
Ill start off by saying i know how to use the earch button and the way it show results now is $hit and i cant find anything useful....
Ok so im about to boost my B16A civic hatch again and was wanting some opinions on what turbo size i should get. Last time i had a kit and the turbo was a lil small for me and i ended up displeased with the whole thing. I already have some injectors, guages i will need, a good vacuum manifold and most importantly a good tuner. So i need to know what kind of turbo would be a good deal that is a good bang for its price and what size would i need to make at least 230 whp(would like to make even more if its doable without too much lag) on my bone stock B16 with nothing but a 2.5 full catback and a turbo setup running with no catalytic converter. Any ideas?
And no saying "ur not gonna make that on a stock motor" or "ur gonna blow it" because i wont (at least not for a while or when im damn ready too) and im not worried bout it either way. I already know its all bout the tune and with that right im not blowing anything for a while
Also please only people knowledgable about turbo hondas need reply
Thanks in advance

For that power goal you could use a variety of small turbos; however, i think you're going to want something large enough so it doesn't fall on its face when you get up in the RPMs. The T3/GT28rs is a great turbo and would suit your needs perfectly. The downside is cost though. If money is a concern, you can get close to the same spool characteristics with a T3/T04e 50 trim .63ar or a T3 Super 60 .63ar. As far as turbos go, they are relatively cheap and will easily make the power you want without sacrificing spool. Personally i would go with the 50 trim because it gives you room to grow in the future.
Are there any characteristics you need from your turbo? How important is quick spool vs top end power? Cost?

And thanks for the info guys. And as far as money between buying just a turbo, manifold, and downpipe im working with trying to spend between 1400 and 1700.

Then if i were you, i would contact the Shodan about the GT3255e and see if he has any in stock. Its a variant of the 57 trim that spools faster and makes great power in the lower PR's. As for the manifold, i would run an SLS shorty, 3" dp and dump. That combo should work for your price range and make plenty of power for you. I had almost that exact setup on my stock block GSR and made 315whp / 216wtq at 10.5psi. I have the graph if you want to see it...i had full boost at 3800rpm on the street

I'll second that. I honestly think that the combination of the GT32 series (from STC) in combination with an SLS mini ram is one of the best setups for the street. Boost comes on fast and response is damn near instantaneous. Also, it makes great power even at low PRs.
Here's my dyno sheet of my stock block GSR at ~10.5psi on a GT3255b
