Opinion: boost on stock ek cx
Alright guys, looking at buying a ek hatch 1.6 non-vtec cx. My plan is to put arp studs and boost it with a 57 trim but i heard the stock cx trans is junk for boost, can anyone elaborate on that?
I understand you can put a vitara and eagle combo in the bottom end which i plan on doing once the stock motor pops but i wanted to see how far i could push the stocker. Thanks and i appreciate any feedback.

~220whp limit that most people can get w/o blowing the stock EX motor, but the CX has toothpicks for rods, and a worse head/intake. You'll see 5-7psi by about 5.5k-6k rpm, but since you redline before 7k, it will be a terrible powerband. The CX trans has gears spaced farther apart than a 40yr old crack-*****'s legs, so it will be like 90% waiting for boost, 10% having boost.
I'd just suck it in, accept the crappy motor, buy a 2.5bar (or bigger) MAP sensor & small T3 turbo, and see what 18psi will get you.
