open wastegate
has any one every ran an ls motor with out runing the wastegate back to the downpipe and out somewhere elses ive seen some with the dump tube out the front bumper but isnt it really fuccen loud or is it only loud when it hits full boost?
Please use punctuations... My head hurts.
To answer your question, open wastegate has nothing to do with full boost... The wastegate itself has a spring inside of it and opens to maintain a steady boost pressure, so it you have a 10LB spring and are boosting 15LBs, it's going to open BEFORE you hit full boost... It's LOUD when it opens.

Open wastegate as everything to do with full boost (hence the wastegate is controlling boost pressure). But with the original question no, you do not need a dumptube for the wastegate. I have seen many people that have run the wastegate open with no tube on it and also running open downpipe with that too. Its not that loud at all, just sounds good

Not to mention any wiring, vac. hose, etc or anything like that will be melted by the extremely hot gases it releases. You will also have a ton of un-ness. heat from not directing the gases under the car or at least toward the ground.

atmosphere dump is louder but seems to result in a little more power... as to where recirculated back into the downpipe would obviously be quieter and make slightly less power.
if you dont mind the noise... atmosphere dump is MUCH more fun imo...

My dumptube goes down under my oil pan and it's like it's not even there. I'm running a T3/T4 Garret with a TiAL WG and 5psi spring, doesn't sound like I have a leak or anything. It's actually quieter than when I was N/A. I have 2.5" from turbo -> 42" 4" diameter resonator then 2.5" to a brospeed muffer with 2.5" tip. Sounds so quiet, I love it. I'm sure I'd gain more power by opening it up but I love NOT getting attention from cops.
