Default Open Waste Gate

how many people in here are running open waste gates. does it make that big of a diffrence when it is open vs routed to exhaust.

i have not had the time to pipe it to the rest of my exhaust so i am not shure if i should do it.

@you'll get about 10%-15% of your overall HP increased by going open wg....also a huge decible increase

I love the noise and exhaust smell created by my open wastegate...

Too bad I'm about to run it closed loop for stealth purposes.

Any way something can be fabbed to run closed for the street and open for the track? Like a unboltable (if that's a word) tube you could bolt up to the DP and WG and then remove and bolt up another tube to route WG gases and have the DP hole pugged up with a metal plate that's bolted on to that. Lotta work....but somehow I think it's possible.

Sure, should be easy enough

Just buy 4 w/g flanges and make a sort of test pipe, but just for the dump tube

i have a tube that vents it to the bottom of my car. i dont think you should have that hot exhaust gas vented under yor hood.

FMAX has a boltable dump tube....I personally like hearing my turbo and bov not the WG...it sounds like a huge exhaust leak!

I dynoed today closed loop wg vs. open loop wg.

Closed loop lost no power whatsoever. I actually lost power open wg because it screwed up my AVC-R somehow and wouldn't boost at my selected boost...

I think it has something to do with where you route the exhaust too...if you route it after the cat, you lose less power, whereas if you loop it to the down pipe like most people do, you loose more power... of course...if you have no cat, I don't think they'll be much difference if any at all.

No cat, it loops back in about 2.5 feet after the turbo.
