Titanium also has extrememly good fatigue properties. Whether or not that makes up for the price difference will depend on a lot of factors.

Yeah i thought it was interesting...sometimes i question sources of information from the internet..Im not too sure that the grape ape racing site is accurate because Ive never heard of them. So I'd like to know how, where, and in what engine they experienced the "welding" of Ti in engines since they claim all the information is from them...Id like to see pictures and know a little more about it...still researching </TD></TR></TABLE>

Grapeape is well known in the domestic community I believe...seems to be trusted info.

Take that with the proverbial grain of salt

I understand what you're saying Earl. It's all about money in the right places. People need to have the basic's covered before they start worrying about needing a titanium rod. (and many other things) The Omni price makes it very appealing but I don't wanna do the testing on my dime.

I have a good feeling about those Omni rods when they become available. The only thing that concerns me is side clearance on those rods. The titanium will need to be protected from gauling in that area. Maybe Steve has some type of coating planned for that area?

I know someone who used to race IHRA Alcohol funny cars and they used aluminum rods as well. He said that in addition to being cheaper (they replace them after each run), they are safer under certain circumstances. Instead of blowing a titantium rod to hell and risking losing the entire engine, they might end up with only a bent rod.

You would think they would be super secret...but with the restrictions NHRA has on the materials allowed and minimum weights, the secret isnt in rods, pushrods, or pistons anymore

Edit: yes you are correct, titanium is old school for 500 ci monsters

I'm Interested to hear more about this Gauling... Is this likely to happen all the time, when its hot, high Rpms, etc....

I guess I am still unconvinced if I should go with these or not. I feel I do have my basis covered in all other areas of the Motor. Rods and Cams are the two things I have left to buy for my Turbo and Engine setup.

Thanks Again,
Corey

How do you know the side of the nsx rod does not have a propritary coating? I'm not saying titanium won't work, it is just that something is normally done to the sides to defeat gauling, I THINK.
