ok, wastegate rated at 6psi, why 18-20psi on boost gauge?
I finally remembered to ask this question guys, I bought an HKS wastegate(40mm standard)and it was rated at 6 psi(I forgot, but it was like 5.6 bar or something)...don't laugh at me for forgetting which spring it had in there...
Here's the thing. When we boosted with wastegate controlling the boost, it would always jump up to 18-20psi on the gauge. Is there a different sprign other than I thought? Or did we hook it up wrong? The top port of the wg was left open. as for the side, we "T" it to the intake manifold. WE "T" it with the FPR vaccuum line(also "T" there was the BOV, boost gauge). Was there too many things T'd off of the same fitting that it was screwing up the wastegate? I don't recall hearing anybody complaining about the HKS wastegates spiking at all....
can anyone give me some info on this?

did it feel like you were pushing nearly 20psi? In other words were your wheels spinning in 4th gear?

leave the top open. and the side fitting runs a vacuum line DIRECTLY to the turbo fitting (compressor outlet). If anything is T'd off the wastegate, it's a manual boost controller in between the line i just talked about.
Also be sure that the wastegate is set to it's lowest setting (if it can be adjusted....i have never owned an HKS wastegate).

I meant .56 or something like that...I'm not that good with metric sh*t...
Yes, the tires were breaking loose in mostly all gears with spirited driving...this thing was scary fast.
The motor lasted exactly 1-1/2 weeks...finally put a hole through the block.
SO the wastegate is supposed to connect to the compressor housing somewhere?

yah i did the same thing. but thank god i didnt put a hole threw the block. i havent opened it up yet ( i am almost positive that i just blew my rings) so i ordered new pistons and rods.
that sux i was so mad at myself for not connecting the vacume line on the side of the WG i dont even have a fitting on the side of my turbo so i ran it to the intake manifold and it worked fine. but the damage was done the motors shot. (the day after xmas i am going to be pulling the motor out

can I take off the compressor housing and actually drill and tap a fitting into it? anywhere on the housing will do right?
AS for the motor, We didn't care much, it was a high miled d16z6 with a b20 motor that was waiting to take it's place.
