Oil return question
i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or pics on how and where i should put my oil return on my oil pan. i dont know how low or how far to one side or what. and would my crank spinning have any effect on the oil being held back in the dump tube? any suggestions would really help. thanks.
You want your oil return bung to be:
*as high as possible in the pan
*between two of the holes in the pan so you can still bolt the pan to the block
*most people prefer the bung in the deep part of the pan
You shouldn't have any oil in your dump tube, ever. For your car's sake I hope you mean oil return.

On my oil pan we braze welded the fitting to the oil pan and its held great might not look gorgeous but serves the purpose!
BTW: Mines almost on the exact same spot Dax's is!

I also brazed mine to the pan with a coat hanger, then repainted the area. The brazing looks smoother than a weld. I have no leak issues. The oil residue you may see in the picture is from an improperly installed oil pan gasket that was fixed.

Stan's oil line kit is great. I haven't had any problems with mine.

haha, I did this the first time I put on my oil return. I didn't pay any attention to the bolt holes, but to putting it behind a main so the crank wind wouldn't restrict it (not sure if this is a myth or fact) but it was ok, I just had to start threading the bolt while putting the pan on, and use a wrench.

The fast-turbo kit uses a -10AN oil return line with a 45* fitting off the turbo to a straight fitting on the line. There is a 45* swivel fitting on the other end of the line which is connected to the bung welded to my oil pan.
The feed is a -3AN line, with appropriate fittings at both ends.
