losing oil...but how and where??
ok, last week, i checked my oil, and i had no oil at all on the dipstick...so i changed my oil out and the oil filter...a week later (yesterday), i checked my oil again and HALF of it is gone!! i checked under my car, to see if any oil was leaking...but i can't find anything but when i took a look at the tranny, i can see something leaking onto it, it's not wet, but it seems like something leaked onto it and just dried...could i possibly have a broken headgasket? but if i do, how come everytime i check under my engine, there isn't any oil??

It doesn't sound like a headgasket if you're not losing any coolant.
What color smoke do you have?
White = coolant
Blue = oil
Black = rich
You're probably just burning a lot of oil.

Get some brake/parts cleaner...and spray off your entire engine...and run it for like a few hours or so...then look all around the engine...under it, behind it, for any sort of oil leak...

Does it smoke alot or even a little. My hatch was smoking a little so replaced the piston rings and it quit. Make shure you try everything else before you do that. Make it a last resort. Keep eye on that Oil dont run it out.

Dried up oil...probably leaking from:
head gakset OR
dizzy o-ring OR
vtec solenoid gasket OR
valve cover gasket

Might be coming from somewhere near the head, but I doubt you're losing that much oil and not dropping any on the ground overnight. Do what Bauley suggested.

i lost a large amount of oil from my valve cover gasket when i first did my swap.. it got low enough to the point where i didn't have enough pressure to crossover.

Well...I have an oil leak that looks like this:
(we todd is down sundays so you probably wont be able to see the pic)
But anyway...i have a collection of oil in the area where the tranny/block/head meet...and its flowing down the side of the tranny, and down towards the block stamp...i've replaced the dizzy o-ring, valve cover gasket, and one of the two vtec solenoid gaskets...and its still leaking. I am going to wait for the second of the two vtec solenoid gaskets, and then maybe torque down my head some more (never re-torqued it after I did a gasket swap). If its still leaking...I have a bad head gasket and need to replace that. Good luck

i have a SOHC and i don't have v-tec, so i guess i don't gotta worry about the v-tec solenoids...but BauleyCivic, that's what my tranny looks like, but i'm not sure if it's even oil...it seems like something leaked onto it and dried...i cleaned it earlier, and gonna wait a few days, to see if it comes back or not

Take off the tranny and look where the crank is on the motor. The 4" circular shaped seal is the rear main seal.

Re: losing oil...but how and where?? (dantastic)
Take it from an oil loss pro my engine looked exactly like that, and I replaced all the same stuff you just mentioned, then I finally replaced the cam seal and it stopped.
Unfortunately for me, and probably you too, that was just a small part of a big problem, it turned out that even though the oil stopped leaking I was still losing rediculous amounts of oil, your problem sounds exactly like mine...for me, it is the piston rings that need to be replaced
But hey, look at things on the bright side, the way I figure it, this is an opportunity to fully build the block while the engines out, and it will be 10x better than before.

Re: losing oil...but how and where?? (b00st)
I burn that much oil per week, and I'm not wasting any cash on a DX engine. so I just keep adding oil and changing my filter every 5K. I bough a new car though.
you can buy a product to help slow down that burning, It's like a really thick jelly that you put in. 1/4 thick stuff, and 3/4 oil. and try using 10W or more, the thicker it is, the slower it burns

Yeah I did the same thing, I used to just drive around with a case of oil in the back and stop every 100 miles or so and add a quart, but I am finally going to fix it for good.
