Mr. Helsinki, wouldn't your set up result in small amounts of oil contaminating the intake piping to your turbo?

The intake is pressurized on a boosted motor when you need to vent the crankcase the most. If you run the vacuum line to the intake and remove the breather, then the pcv valve would close under boost and without a breather it would build crankcase pressure in the catch can. Hooking to the pre-turbo air inlet where there is always a vacuum would work better.

I have a fluid separator in between as I mentioned.

I have been checking the hose a couple of times per week to see if there's any oil there, and it's been bone dry thus far.

I wouldn't expect to see major contamination there unless the engine has major blowby

YES it will, even if you do have that liquid seperator thing (not sure how effective they are).

Depending on where you tap the oil catch lines (vc or back of block) your charge pipes/intercooler will get drenched in oil. I know when i ran the pcv slashcut off the back of the block it contaminated my charge piped terribly, but i didnt run a seperator thing.

I would never do that again, the benefits of vac-assist arent worth it. Just do an exhaust slashcut and call it a day if your hell-bent on vac-assist, i just run open element.

NO

that will charge the crankcase with air, i wouldnt run it like that but i guess since your venting it will be fine.

PCV is simple, i dont see how people get so confused.

Correct way is one of these two:

1: 2 fittings in rear of block to open breather can

2: 2 fittings welded to front of vc to open breather can

and then if you choose vac assist you just take the breather off and run it to whereever you doin a vac. scavenge

apples and oranges my friend...the separator works. . I could see if you didn't also run a pcv valve then there might be so much crankcase pressure that your charge pipe would be the only place that it would vent into under hard deceleration.

so can if i pick option 1 and use this ebay catch, turn it upside down, and drill a hole for a breather filter, will this work. Also where can i find fitting for the back of the block. How hard is it to reamove the plugs that are alredy in there. Will i leave the vac line on the IM open or do i plug it up like in the pic above?

**** i just wrote a huge thing and somehow it vanished expletive oh well, read this:

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1490117

i run the same can in that pic now, just drilled and added a 3/8" fitting and breather next to the 2 existing inlets. In my DIY i run the slashcut but as soon as i saw the crap it spews into the intake i ditched it for open breather

Ok, that write up helped out a TON!!! have one more question though. If i use the setup pictured below and replace the vac. scavange line with a breather filter will this be ok. If i setup up this way won't the gases go into the atmospher and not back into my chargpipes/IC/Turbo.

ok so you running from the 2 block fittings -> can -> vac scavenge from intake... correct?

2 ways to solve this problem i think, try the air/water seperator mr.helsinki suggested or just remove the line from the scavenge and put a breather on the nipple coming off the can.

a) how you currently have it setup

b) setup to prevent oil contamination of intake, turbo and intercooler

yeah they will go into the air instead of into the intake charge you dont want that crap in the intake charge!

this is how I have mine routed, except I used an air compressor water seperator instead of the catch can and my valve cover has a breather filter on it. It's been very effective for me. The factory oil box on the back of the engine traps almost all the oil. My compressor air filter has barely anything in it since I've put it on. and I kept the factory pcv valve on there to prevent drawing too much vac from the block.
