Since you have to buy new rings anyway, why not just get the ones sold by SRP for their application? I hope you're not planning on re-using the ones currently in the car...

I have the same question, I need new rings for my Wiesco 81.5mm. Can I used oem rings or do they have to be Wiesco?

One ring broke only!

so i was just going to replace the top compression ring as the others are fine.
I live outside the usa, and i would like to be back up and running by this weekend.

If oem can work, i would go up with those.

No you would not be able to use OE rings as factory bore is 81mm

I guess OE rings can work but depending on how many miles your motor has on it. If a ring broke i would replace the others to avoid the same problem. i highly recommend running aftermarket rings that are meant for the pistons, if you bought the pistons new they should have came with them, you dont want to be rebuilding your motor again 1000 miles down the road. I believe they make 81.5mm OE rings...i guess i dont know the differences between OE and aftermarket rings. I can't imagine there is a ton of difference, but i can't say for sure

you misread the OP. he has an engine that broke a compression ring, so he just wanted to throw an oem ring in there since it's only one ring. he's using his old already used forged pistons i'm assuming.

oh i see....carry on. i would think an OEM would be fine. i wouldn't be surprised if aftermarket rings are the same as OEM, made by Nippon.

I would recommend using the rings designed for your piston. OEM is great for just that. Honda makes a great ring for their pistons and NA. Yes there are good high-power, long lasting OEM boosted motors on here, but how abundant are they?

Use Honda rings for their pistons.

Use aftermarket company's rings with their pistons.

^^To add to that, i believe you can buy an individual set of rings for one piston rather than having to buy them for all 4...You may want to check with the manufacturer to be sure
