Default Piston ring question! Quick response would be nice..

Okay I have a d16y8 and I need to get some new rings for my pistons.. I am using SRP 75mm forged pistons, 9:1 compression.. My question is can I just go to the honda-dealership and buy some OEM d16y8 piston rings? And if so do I just get the standard or the (OS 0.25) or (OS 0.50)? Or would I be better off buying the rings of JE/SRP instead?? Thanks!

It depends on the piston manufacturer, not all aftermarket use the same thickness rings and Im am pretty sure je/srp use their own size so you have to use their rings. If they used the same thickness rings as oem then you could use oem rings.

Can anyone confirm if srp rings are the same thickness as OEM?

Yes use oem rings. They are the same thickness as stock srp pistons (ie not custom ordered) the thickness is 1.0,1.2,2.8mm

Do check the gap, but usually oem rings dont need to be filed

Use 75mm rings if you have 75mm pistons.

Each...

That's pretty expensive...

Call up wiseco and say that you have a set of their customs pistons that 2953XC ring set. You might be able to get athem for $80 for the set... (Engine builder price) Just be nice to the guy...
