Great question! I heard stories that modifications were necessary for usage.

Mine is performing great. It's been sitting in my tranny, in my car, for 2 years now. The transmission and the car have yet to float away.

I need a damn wiring harness so I can drive this thing

Haha, that's the part you don't hear a lot of the times when someone talks about how long a junk part has lasted in their car. "i've had an obx in my car for 2 years now and it should make 800hp!" haha

Those of you that use the OBX LSD please reply to the questions as follows:

1) Very satisfied!! They are really good. I've driven Quaife + OBX couldn't tell a difference.

2) Never had a problem making 400whp on a b16a

3) Def. OBX again.

Never had any axle removal problems. Mine came beveled both sides problem fixed I suppose.

What is the difference when placed side -by-side?

I pulled mine out of the box, checked all the bolts were tight and the case was the same clearance all the way around, blew off the packing peanuts, had the bearings and gear pressed on and popped it in. No shimming, nothing. Working fine for me, I was in a rush. Maybe I'm lucky!

I'm using GM Synchromesh, yeah. Nothing special.

THAT ONE. basically gotta take apart the insides of your tranny to a certain degree, as far as car stuff goes i would give it a "royal pain in the ***" rating.

I was running the obx and sold it to my buddy, he runs it in his delsol. putting about 350whp through it and definatly alot of abuse. only issue i had with it was axles getting stuck in it and that was an easy fix. Not sure if the newer ones already have that problem solved. I run a quaife lsd in my car and to be honest it performs the same as the obx. Id rather spend the 400 instead of 1000 again thats for damn sure.

Many people are making 600+whp on the obx lsd's and they hold up to the abuse. Like the quaife or any other lsd if you dont know how to drive then you will blow up the obx or any other lsd. if you know how to launch yoru car aka preload then you will be fine

I really don't think there are that many people making 600hp on an obx lsd. And i don't care how you drive, the odds of breaking a quaife are VERY small. We ran them in Kenny's car making well over 800hp, on 28" tires, running mid 8's and didn't break them.

What problem did you have with a quaife that they would not warranty?

Nope, i've just been doing this long enough to learn that you get what you pay for, and that it's cheaper to do it right the first time...

Is this an inplication that one is doing it wrong the first time if they go OBX and by going with the Quaife the build is done correct in relation to LSD's only? I know first hand that OBX has made alot of useless products. However, is it possible the LSD is junk also based on previous manufactured products?

can someone give a full explanation of how they rebuild their obx before they put it in?

Where do you get the torque specs from?
What fluid do they use?
Any bolts need replacing?
Loctite?
