Not your regular "breaking in the motor question"
Let me start from the beginning. I am building a fully built ls vtec. I bought a p28 ecu tuned already to 550cc injectors for a vortech supercharged SI. My block is almost done and ready to drop in. Break in process, how do I break the motor in since the ecu already been chipped for those purposes I listed above. I will be purchasing 750 rc injectors very soon.
Do I just take the chip out of the ecu and get a base map chip burned for 750cc for the break in period???????? I heard the basemaps are not that good. A break in period is over 500 miles though. I would think that is a long time to drive untuned and worrying about flooding with fuel. After I break it in I will go tune with my hondata s200.
Someone please give me some option I can do till I can get to the dyno safely

Hmm, I'm kind of in the same situation. I've read that running too rich while breaking in you engine, you could risk of washing your cylinder walls, causing the rings to not seat completely. So i'm gonna break the engine in with stock injectors and stock map. Good thing when we chipped our ECU for uberdata we used a toggle switch for the J1 connector. So we just flip the switch when we want to run the stock map vs the one on the EPROM.
Hope this helps

Same boat here. I am going to run a stock P72 GSR ecu and the stock injectors for the breakin. Of course, N/A. Then add the turbo and go get it tuned.

Re: Not your regular "breaking in the motor question" (redturbocivic)
i used stock injectors, added a bit of fuel and its running good. just waiting to get tuned with 96lb injectors. b16 84mm 9.5:1. when you wash the rings they dont not seat correctly, the cylinder walls sand down the rings due to too much gas, and not enough oil between the rings and the sleeve.

Re: Not your regular "breaking in the motor question" (c jackson)
So basically your saying just put the stock injectors in and wait to put the 750 in for tuning time. Since the p28 ecu is chipped already for hondata 550cc injectors. Can i just put my ls ecu in there for the breakin of the ls/vtec?????????????? When tuning time come around just put the p28 back in and the 750ccs

Re: Not your regular "breaking in the motor question" (FwdCivicHatch)
I would go with your stock ECU. During the first stage of your break in period, which should be 1000 miles(recomended by Endyn) you shouldnt even run into Vtec or Boost at all.
You should keep your car in or not pass 3k rpms, so u wont be hiting vtec anyways so its not a bad idea to go back to LS ECU.
After 500 miles is where you start to go higher in the rpms(1000rpm for every 100 miles u run).. So i would start going with bigger injectors and VTEC ecu after atleast 500 miles of break in. Oil change should also occur at 500 miles and at the end of your break in period.

Re: Not your regular "breaking in the motor question" (USDM 4G VTEC)
Im adding to the thread
If breakin in a new rebuilt b18 with a turbo going in at the same time as the engine will it run fine for the 1000 miles with the stock injectors and vafc at 0 settings. After that ill put the 440 injectors, I already have a walbro 255 pump installed, and what settings do I put the vafc on to get my car to the shop to tune. -35 to -38???
