noobe question about gas
whats the deal with not being able to run less than a half tank of gas with a turbo setup on honda,.I keep reading about people cracking sleeves becuase of too little gas in the tank??am i reading this wrong,,Please correct me ..I plan on boosting my type r this winter and ide like this explained to me.THanks guys
i believe you are reading that wrong.. full tank, 1/2, 1/4 tank of gas will not hurt performance one bit, the reason people are crackin sleeves is because of a to lean of an A/f mix, and gettin detonation. so you dont have to worry about how much gas is in your, tank, just dont run it dry, and get air in the system
i think what you have read is that some people are worried that with the tank very low and boosted motors needing so much fuel, that fuel sloshing could lean the motor out. ive never really seen this happen but i guess some people are just paranoid. its not just hondas it could be any motor.
I think you guys are reading post about sumped gas tanks. With a Sumped gas tank, you dont have the baffles to keep the fuel from sloshing around...causing possible air in the fuel lines. So it's ideal to have over 1/4 tank full of fuel.
