Default No exhaust manifold to start?

I am just wondering, can i start my car without the manifold and the turbo??
but still connecting the oil line to my turbo...

coz i think my engine or turbo is making a sound, like a "metal hitting metal" sound....
so now i want to see if the sound is caused by the engine? or the turbo? or interaction between them?

let me know please

thanks

do you know where exactly the noise is coming from? check your compressor blades, check for shaft play and see if its hitting the compressor housing. i wouldnt recommend doing what you said, you'll blow your exhaust gasses straight into your engine compartment plus the oil going into the turbo will have to go somewhere. maybe i misunderstood your question...

Not really a good idea to start it without an exhaust manifold....

oh hehe.. yeah, well i will just let the oil drip down to the ground.. or a bottle..

but yeah it doesn't sound like a good idea

hmmm....... maybe i will listen more carefully....

i doubt the turbo itself is making the sound.. maybe the heatshield is hitting somehing..

sucks, or maybe i need a valve adjustment??
i don't know

my buddies b16a valves sounded like a high school orchestra, tap tap tap, if thats it then i recommend doing the valve adjustment... is the valve cover is where the noise is coming from?

when does it make that sound? I was baffled by a sound like that and it turns out a small leak at the manifold caused by one of those nuts to be loose makes a grinding noise at low revs especially when coming off the throttle! you will know its not your turbo just by taking your intake off of it and watching the compressor wheel. Rev it in neutral and watch it, it probably wont spin much without an engine load and you will be able to pinpoint the vibration if its near your engine.
