nippon high CR and headgasket and boost question
Im planning on increasing my boost on my d16, which means i will need to beef up my bottom end.
id like to keep above 9.0 compression (or as close to it) but not shell out 500$ for pistons alone.
vitaras cost the same as nippons, but also lower CR to 7.5, or 8.5 with custom rods form fj distributors.
my goal is around 280whp with boost.
my background to this question is this
i found ebay nippon racing high CR pistons for my d16 for 130$
-claims up to 300hp safely (perfect)
- raises to 10.x compression ratio (could be a knockin issue?)
tuner toy rods for ~200$
- relatively cheap and can support up to 600hp (claimed)
- press fit so can fit the nippon pistons
then i thought about using a slightly thicker head gasket in combination of above to decrease CR form 10.x to around 9ish.
so is this combination of "budget parts" a clever idea to meet my goals of 280 reliable whp without lowering my compression ratio below 9 a good cost effective idea?
input is appreciated!
