NEWLY built motor- INITIAL Startup tips
Well, I finally am going to start the engine today. Here's the basic setup:
Built GSR block w/Darton sleeves= installed by RS
Crower rods, CP pistons, ACL bearings, ARP rod/head bolts, all NEW OEM gaskets/seals and pumps. Head is 99 SI w/GSR cams and ITR Mani/TB. Stock ignition w/AEM fuel rail and DSM 450cc injectors(upgrading to 550's soon)
Re-using my DRAG gen3 turbo t3/t4e.
This was my first build and I basically did everything myself, excluding the machine work. Does anyone have any tips on the initial startup procedure. I plan on disabling the ignition and cranking the engine to build oil pressure- I have a gauge, as well. How long should I let the engine initially IDLE? How about the first drive cycle? I know the first few miles are critical to getting proper RING seal, so I know prolonged driving at any steady RPM should be avoided. Also, planning on changing the oil the first 250-500miles to get any metal shavings out. Any tips/prayers are appreciated.
Thanks

Oh yeah, engine management is ZDYNE GOLD ECU. I have a program given to me by a buddy- ran my old setup on it okay.

I don't know if you are able to or not but I would recommend start up on the stock ecu. It just ensures that you won't go too rich wiping out the rings.
