LS/Vtec build thread
After 2 years of sitting idle, I have finally accumulated enough parts to finish my build and figured I would share. Any advice/comments are appreciated.
Background: I bought the car in 2007 with a bone stock ls motor and gsr trans and for the next year I slowly pieced together a turbo setup based around a 57 trim Garrett t3/t4. I enjoyed every minute of driving the car and every track day and pass I had in it. I ended up running 11.8 @ 120.98 with the stock motor. However, in late 2009 the car died due to a loss of oil pressure and a thrown rod bearing. Since that time, the car had been sitting on jack stands at my house until recently when we assembled the engine and dropped it in the car. now to the fun stuff.
New setup:
Block-
Laskey racing built/Benson sleeved 81.5mm b18a1 - balanced internals
JE pistons (9.5:1 if I remember correctly)
Eagle rods
Golden Eagle girdle w/ ARP main studs
ARP Headstuds
Moroso oil pan
ATI street crank pulley
Head-
Stock port B16a head
Edelbrock 4730 camshafts (street/strip)
Supertech valvesprings/retainers
Golden Eagle cam gears
Golden Eagle head gasket
Full-race ls/vtec conversion kit with Golden Eagle sandwich plate
Gates Racing belt
Skunk2 valves
Skunk2 intake manifold
Skunk2 alpha series 70mm throttle body
Fuel Delivery/Engine Management-
Precision 1200cc injectors
Full-Blown 340 pump
Stock fuel lines
Aeromotive a1000 FPR
Hondata s300 with boost control components
Turbo Components-
Precision 6266 .82 a/r
Spoolin Performance Prototype 1 manifold
Treadstone TR8 intercooler and piping
3 inch downpipe
Go-Autoworks firewall oil line kit
HKS SSQV blow off valve
Trans-
LS final drive
LS 5th gear
Gsr gearset
Synchrotech 1-5 carbon synchros
Mfactory LSD
CC Stage 5 unsprung clutch
CC flywheel
Currently the engine is being broken in n/a and we will be installing the turbo components this week with a trailer ride to Houston to get tuned by Jason. Many thanks go out to everyone that has helped me get to this point, including- Mike @ laskey Racing, the crews at Synchrotech trans, Lightning Motorsports, and Go-Autoworks; Steve @ CNR Performance for hooking me up with a break-in tune, Jason "st00pid" for tuning my old setup/helping me on track days, and my builder who has assembled all of this mess and helps me with everything on the car- Mike Howard.
As of now, I am supposed to be going on November 10 to Secret Services Auto in Houston to get tuned by Jason. I cannot wait to see what she can make and get rid of the natural nervousness that goes into a build of this extent. Hopefully everything goes smoothly and I will post results as soon as i can. Thank you all for checking my build out and as stated previously, feel free to leave some comments.

Nice build!
Couple of questions
How do you like the carbon synchros?
What type of tires were you running for the 11.8 pass?
Reason why I asked, I ran a 13.3 @120 spinning my all season tires lol. I'm looking some drag radial tires
I also plan on rebuilding my gsr trans using the carbon set and packin in the MFactory LSD!

If the funds are available get some ID injectors and ditch the precision injectors your idle quality and increased MPG will be well worth the money plus they are easier to tune!
Great build man! I'm sure Stoopid will get you fixed up again. I've been to SSA before for tuning but Chris Delgado did mine. GL with the tune and let us know how it comes out. It seems like you've taken your time and been patient
Appreciate all the comments guys, and to answer a few questions-
4g_hatch- https://honda-tech.com/forums/forced-induction-16/edelbrock-4730-camshaft-dyno-comparison-making-power-3066108/ check this thread, it has a side by side comparison to the Edelbrocks v ITR cams... from my understanding theyre slightly more aggressive than ITR but not really over the top.
JustYncredible- I was on a set of 24.5x8x13 Mickey Thompson slicks mounted on a set of Lenso VPD wheels... Cut 1.70-1.74 60' on almost all of my passes. Definitely worth the money for a set. At your trap speed you should be able to pull some high-mid 11s with some seat time. I am also extremely happy with the carbon synchros, never had an issue with their older style, and this time I got their new style and all new bearings. My builder Mike has used the same synchros and managed a 10.2 @ 14X (not sure the exact speed), revving to 10,000 so I have a lot of confidence in these.
Yeah i originally had bought the 1200s right as the ID1000 were first starting to become popular in the honda world (at least as far as i knew), and i just decided to get a AEM injector driver with the 1200s and see if we can get them dialed in first... definitely open to other possibilities/options in the future if they arise.
and yeah BigMike, I really appreciate everything Stoopid has done for me with the track days and teaching me little things at the track that make a big difference. Nothing at all against anyone else over there, Im just a firm believer in keeping business with the people that help me. Patience is definitely key in a long term build and at this point I'm just getting more and more nervous about small things- did i do this right? is that right? what about this?.... lol definitely nerve wracking.

just a few update pictures- spent the final days of last week beginning the turbo installation... still have a couple minor things that are being shipped right now but its definitely coming together. would have gotten farther over the weekend, but something else came up

And finally what interrupted our work. record crowd 93,374 in attendance, countless left outside the gates... Although they did not win (21-17, although they shut Alabama out in the second half- minus one drive) I had the time of my life. Wouldn't have traded it for anything. If you don't enjoy college football, go to a Saturday night in Death Valley that was like this and you will see what it is all about.

well just a quick update, we went tuning on the 9th of this month and the results I could not be happier with. only issue we really faced is a huge problem with boost creep but I will be adding a second wastegate to the other side of the manifold to try to get this under control. other than that I am more than satisfied with the car and Jason was able to exceed my biggest expectations for the car. I was shooting for 500-550 and he was able to pull out 660 on 33 lbs of boost. Visited the track for IFO and as of now my Personal Best is 11.03 but with some seat time, and a roll cage, we will be turning it up/dialing it in and really testing her out. Hopefully we can get into the 140's on the big end but my short time is suffering due to a lack of boost control/setup tweaking being needed in various areas of the car. Here's a few pics with the update. Now LET'S GO FAST!!!!

also I had a bit of an interesting experience, I missed 4th gear and after putting it in neutral and trying to put it back into 4th to just simply coast through the rest of the track, I accidentally slid int 2nd and the datalogs kind of scare me. We will be checking as much as we can to make sure the motor was not hurt, but various people i have talked to including Jason feel like I should be ok.

As always, comments are appreciated. Thanks guys.
