For being an outside unbiased observer &lt;who clearly knows the in's and outs and spends a fair amount of time at the shop apperintly&gt;you sure are trying hard to defend godspeed and ensure there is no liability being put on them regardless of what the deal was between the cutomer and them at the time for poor tune.

In the end the customer went there expecting the car to be tuned perfectly as we all do, and didn't know any better then to make sure everything was done to his liking, ie. part throttle tuning, wot, etc... and then later found he was unhappy with his service, as the car stumbled horribly in anything aside from WOT.

Regardles of the shop or tuner involved, this customer had an expectation of a decent running car with proper WOT tuning. It sounds like he got good WOT and 0 attention to part throttle, and if the customer noticed it, then sureley the tuner did aswell. So then the tuner just chose not to clean that part up a bit, or metnion it to the customer because he didn't get explicitly advised or paid to? and let a car leave the shop running poorly in the most used part of he powerband?

So his post seems valid and doesn't need to be broken down and intricatly worded "fairly".

I don't think Payn did any kinda of magic that Godspeed couldn't of done, it just seems they spent more time in the part throttle stuff and cleaned up the WOT a bit sicne the previous tune. In the end the customer was happy, the car ran good in all conditions and was exactly what he wanted. Sounds more liek what I would want from a tune I was paying for.

Either way as mentioned above both shops have lots of well tuned cars, and repeat customers. It seems in this case the cutomer was happier with his tune and service at Payn and wanted to share his experience for anyone looking for opinions on where to go. Not to defend his opinion on what he was happy with.

So perhaps for your next unbiased adult opinion toss a few unbiased comments in there to make it seem like your not all for one side, and trying to defend "your place of preferance" with a hint of bitterness twords the other. </TD></TR></TABLE>

Understood. But regardless of my particular position, it could have been ANY tuner that could have paid 0 attention to one aspect and 100% to the other. Yes, I've tuned at Godspeed, and D.P.E. with Yoshio with my other cars as well. My point to Donkiman, was the fact that He didn't know that there was a difference, and based upon the time constraint and budget that was given to Godspeed, that he expected a FULL Tune, and paid for a WOT, due to that constraint. From my perspective it was as though he had FORGETTEN the fact that a full tune doesn't come in just one hour, and if his budget for that day or time constraint couldn't afford it, he shouldn't bitch and complain at something that wasn't complete. But don't diss the shop for it. I didn't say that Payn was horrible, or that it didn't deserve its just due as well. I simply stated that he needed to look to himself as well as the shop to ensure that before a comment like that was made, he covered all the bases on HIS account. Hence my little disclaimer at the top of my post. This isn't about just defense of one shop, this is about possible liability of ALL parties involved.. Again, looking at both sides of the coin.

i know the diferrence between knocking and detonation....I'm detonating for a sec, between 3200-3250 rpm, then it goes away. Plus all of the components are running properly...i just dont feel like describing everything...its got a brand new, rebuilt head, new stock block and upgraded fuel delivery system(rail, fpr, pump)...so too agressive of a tune might have been the problem...I always use 93+ octane, maybe the day of the tune I ran some cheap injector cleaner, but dont think bumped my octane rating that much...

Devin tuned my car about 7 months ago and it's still running perfectly. I was very happy with the tune and Devin is a standup guy. I felt so relieved to go to a shop where people weren't ******** after driving from St. Louis. I've been trying to get ahold of Devin through emails to see if he can't make a trip to St. Louis to tune me with race gas, but I heard that he is no longer with Payn.

Does anyone know what Devin is doing now?

i hate to say it, but i gave a guy one of my EMS cals for a base map to get running to get tuned, but it was far from a base map.....lots n lots of street tuning.........n e ways, long story short, he went to get tuned @ payn tech, and paid for professional tune.....of course u guys know how much that can cost. he then gave me his tuned map to me since i gave him mine, and the damn thing looked like it wasn't even touched. TIMING map was the same, and everything, his IDLE was jacked.....they did touch a few things, but nothing that made a big difference or at least i didn't feel it. i surely wouldn't have paid for that. well...on the dyno chart,......my thoughts were right, i put down dam nearly the same numbers.

whats also funny is.....theres more EMS people paying to get tuned, but when i take a look at thier stuff, the timing map looks soo damn identical.....then its even more funny.......they're all putting down very very similar numbers.
BTW.....thi is on a 6th gen accord.

i duno......but i think theres some funny business going on.

IMHO, when u get tuned, i think u should only pay for what was done. what if u street tuned for a long time, then decided u wanted to get professionally tuned, u pay a big *** chunk, and when u get ur car back, u can barely feel a difference if any.

sorry about your bad experience. was your buddy there at the shop watching him tune it? Tom didnt seem like the type of person that would be racking up hours while just sitting in the car. I mean the only buisness he even does now is tuning by appointments. My original tune was terrible for street driving and could tell a great difference when I got it back. When your buddy got his car back the A/F looked exactly the same all the way through the band? and the timing was the same? cus that would be one damn good base map.
In my oppinion I would pay to have my car tuned on a street simulated dyno so that my car runs healthy, will be reliable, and will last (as long as turbo hondas can last lol) even if that meant no power gains.
